Inclusive Skaters from across the world are invited to this breakthrough skating event that will include competitive Festival opportunities for Inclusive Skating (IS). Skaters with any form of disability may apply to compete in the International Figure Festival of Skating on black ice.
Margarita Sweeney-Baird, Chair of Inclusive Skating said: “Inclusive Skating is delighted to be a part of the International Figure Festival of Skating. The Festival occurs within the same week of the 2016 World Figure Championship to inspire all to learn and enjoy skating amazing Figure 8’s. The Inclusive Skating system enables all competitors, with any form of disability or challenge, to compete. We are thrilled that skaters with disability are able to take part in Inclusive Skating events and to be a part of this International Figure Festival of Skating in Toronto, Canada at the North Toronto Memorial Arena. Inclusive skaters can compete in the Figures & Free Style on December 19th.
Inclusive Skaters will cheer on the competitors in 2016 World Figure Championship on the 20th – 21st and the International Figure Festival of Skating continues on the 22nd where Inclusive Skaters may enjoy competing in more Figure 8 events, exams and ice dance too. The Festival concludes on the evening of the 23rd. ”
The First Inclusive Skating International was held in Dumfries, Scotland from May 12th -13th, 2012 and featured in a BBC news report.
This Inclusive Skating event will be the first in Canada.
