2015 World Figure Championship & Figure Festival
1932 Olympic Arena
Lake Placid, New York, USA
World Figure Championship Eligibility:
Olympic & World Figure Skating Competitors
US or Canadian Gold (8th) Figure Tests, 7th, 6th, or ISI 10, 9, 8 or International Equivalent
The World Figure Championship will be determined by judging solely the Figures left on the ice by the skaters, eliminating any potential bias. Only Championship Referees will watch the skaters perform their Figures and take any obvious deductions. The Figures will be judged after the skaters leave the ice. The judges will not know which competitor completed a particular Figure; they will only know the patch number.
"Compulsory Figures are to a figure skater what the scales are to a musician. The 2015 World Figure Championship & Figure Festival will rewrite history of the all too often misunderstood foundation of our sport. I am both excited and humbled to be a part of this event and to be in the company of some of the greatest skaters of all time," stated Lisa Fedick, Chief Referee of the 2015 World Figure Championship.
Hold onto your seat, the World Figure Championship Organizational Team (WFCOT) will be announcing the World Class Judging panelists in the next weeks. WFCOT is assembling the most enthusiastic experts for this inaugural event. So, competitors dust off those skates and inspire upcoming skaters while training for this new World Figure Championship.
The Figure Festival commences on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2015 and concludes on Thursday evening, August 27, 2015. The Figure Festival is a fun-filled interactive workshop that creates a supportive learning environment for all ages and abilities to learn the Figure Eights. Opportunities abound in this Figure Festival with workshops throughout the day, on & off the ice, covering all aspects of Edges, Turns, Circle Eights, Loops, Serpentines, Paragraph Figures, Figure Tests and ISI Figure Competitions. The Figure Festival is open for enrollment to all levels and fans of the skating community throughout the World. Coaches in all skating disciplines are welcome to bring and teach their students during the Figure Festival. Gliding across the pristine black ice and leaving one's blade tracings behind will be just the beginning of this amazing experience! Then in the days to follow be inspired when observing the beautiful Figure patterns skated at the inaugural 2015 World Figure Championship on black ice.
